Last month I hosted “The Essentials Workshop”, my very first makeup workshop inside the Feather & Bone gallery just above the Dana Michele Makeup studio. Seven special ladies joined me as I guided them through an everyday makeup routine. They each brought their favorite makeup items to learn how to better utilize what’s already in their kits, as well as learn about great alternatives.

Education is an important part of my makeup artistry. The industry is constantly changing which can seem intimidating if makeup is a green area for you. The Essentials Workshop was just that, teaching the “essential” steps of a simple everyday makeup routine.

I wanted the group lesson to be hands-on and inclusive so after demonstrating each step on my model I would walk around to each guest to offer assistance and advice from eye shadow to blush.

The energy of the group was so much fun, I loved watching how engaged everyone was with each other! We started with a simple skin prep to cover the bases of how skin care works with makeup, working our way to foundations, concealers, and eyeshadow.

I look forward to hosting more makeup workshops like the essentials and more specific topics like applying false lashes and highlight/contouring–be on the look out!

A special thank you to Caitlin Kiley of Caitlin Claire Studio for her wonderful photography and Michael Gehrman Filmworks for his videography and lighting!
